Press Release: ICC Expands Service Offerings with New Partnerships Tue, 06 Oct 2015 10:00:01 +0000 ICC is a UK-based Managed Services IT provider with more than 16 years’ experience in supporting and maintaining enterprise IT systems. The company started life as a hardware supplier, but has gradually expanded their services, and is committed to becoming a true one-stop-shop for both hardware and software solutions.

New Partnerships and Accreditations

To facilitate that aim, ICC has recently announced partnerships with a number of technology companies, including VMware and Veeam (the industry leaders in virtualisation and virtual machine backup and duplication technology), PC and server manufacturer Lenovo, and Nimble – a hybrid storage company that offers cost-effective, high capacity and high-speed data storage.

To protect their customer’s data, ICC recently earned the ISO 27001:2013 accreditation. This accreditation looks at the way customer data is handled, and requires employees to be fully trained in security and privacy best practices. ICC performed their own internal audit to this end, and wrote detailed guidance and policies, before having a neutral third party assess their policies as part of the accreditation.

David Horsfall Joins as Sales Manager

David Horsfall recently joined ICC as a Sales Manager, and has played an instrumental role in helping the company to form partnerships with VMWare, Nimble and Lenovo. Horsfall brings several accreditations and 17 years of experience to the table, as well as an extensive network of contacts in the EMEA region.

Long Term Growth

Horsfall’s appointment is just one of several that the team has made in the last 12 months. When ICC moved their main office to Wetherby, they had just 16 employees. A year on, and the company has grown by 50%, to 29 employees, of which ten are a part of the sales team. The majority of the remaining team specialise in technology and serve one of the firm’s key clients.

As a part of the expansion, ICC opened a second office in Castle Donnington. While the main office houses the spare parts and server support team, the second office allows ICC to provide better, more responsive and personal service to their public sector (NHS and education) clients.

ICC has traditionally served clients that rely on legacy hardware, but as the needs and interests of their clients grow, they are committed to pushing themselves to create a more rounded product catalogue to benefit their customers. IT systems are mission critical for ICC’s agriculture, automotive and manufacturing clients, and they deal with many other highly specialised and demanding use-cases, including health care and even air traffic control.

To provide clients with the best possible service, ICC has extended its offering to include software, virtualisation and other essential IT services. However, this does not mean that they plan to neglect their core services. ICC still remains a leader in supplying refurbished IT Parts and equipment, and has a team dedicated to sourcing rare parts for legacy systems, and spares or consumables for such rare parts. For many companies, upgrading from legacy hardware is a long, complex and high-risk initiative, and something that will require extensive planning. ICC can help such companies to keep mission critical systems running well while they work on an upgrade plan and perform any testing, training and research required to ensure that plan goes smoothly.

Thanks to the ISO 27001:2013 accreditation, and the certifications as a VMWare Partner, ICC has clearly positioned itself as a forward-thinking IT services provider. These initiatives are just the beginning of a long-term strategy, and a commitment to providing the best, most rounded managed services support package for clients in all industries.

Press Release: ICC Expands and Opens New Office in Castle Donington Fri, 31 Jul 2015 10:17:59 +0000 Castle Donington – July 2015. Solutions provider ICC recently opened a second sales office, located in Castle Donington. This expansion comes less than a year after the company moved to a prestigious new office, warehouse and workshop facility in Wetherby, West Yorkshire. Since that initial move, ICC has increased their staff count by almost half.

ICC’s first office serves as their base of operations for their refurbished hardware/spares, servers and support team, as well as for their new Nimble, VMWare and Lenovo partnerships. The Donington office houses the company’s HP OEM team, as well as their newly formed public sector team which serves the NHS and Education sectors. The company also plans to use the Castle Donington office to provide their southern and Midlands-based customers with a more personal service.

About the HP team:

ICC’s new HP OEM team is the Tier 1 parts supplier to HP for the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) region for PPS (personal and printer systems) and HP Enterprise (ProLiant/AlphaServer/Integrity servers & HP storage). As the lead in the supply chain for spares and refurbished hardware, ICC provides HP with parts that the manufacturer can use to service their support contracts and hardware. ICC takes pride in being trusted with such a contract from one of the world’s largest OEMs. All other ‘end-user’ HP sales and solutions are provided by the team at ICC HQ.

About the public sector team:

ICC’s public sector team supplies a range of equipment from iPads, e-boards and touchscreens through to VDI and other network-based solutions as well as VMware virtualization services, IaaS and SaaS solutions, and other cloud-based offerings for educational institutions and the NHS. The team helps public sector institutions to streamline their technology offerings and processes, reducing management overheads in the process. ICC has been working with the public sector for some time now, and made the decision to form a dedicated team in order to improve the quality of their service for the sector.

Leon Wheeler, MD said “Moving the team to a new, dedicated office was the next logical step in our expansion, and will allow us to focus on providing high quality, personal service to our public sector clients. With its airport and easy motorway network access, the Castle Donington location is ideal as a base of operations for serving both HP and the public sector, and is a prime location for future market expansion.”

Press Release: ICC Gains ISO 27001:2013 Accreditation Thu, 30 Jul 2015 09:19:25 +0000 ICC, an IT solutions provider that supplies, supports and maintains enterprise IT equipment, including highly specialised legacy systems, have recently gained the ISO 27001:2013 accreditation.

Formerly known as the ISO/IEC 27001:2005, this updated certification is part of a specification for an Information Security Management System. The certification offers a top-down, risk-based approach to data security, and the measures that it describes are technology neutral. This accreditation is proof of ICC’s continued commitment to safeguard customer’s data and the improvement of quality procedures.

The ISO 27001:2013 accreditation is awarded to companies that meet exacting data security standards. ICC has performed an extensive internal audit of their data security policies, and their staff have been trained in how to handle various data security scenarios. Employees are also required to follow specific processes when handling company data and customer data. These policies and processes have been audited by an independent third party as a part of earning the certification.

ICC works with a wide range of clients, including everything from automobile manufacturers to animal feed production companies, as well as air traffic control systems. Stability, reliability and confidentiality are essential, and ICC is committed to offering the highest quality of service as well as the best and most cost-effective solutions for each client.

Leon Wheeler, MD at ICC explained; “at ICC we are constantly pushing ourselves to do better and create a more rounded offering to benefit our customers. The ISO 27001 accreditation is just one example of how we are developing as a company, and is part of a broader plan to safeguard customer data and improve our quality procedures.”

Supporting enterprise systems can be a significant challenge, and ICC understand that increased trust in their processes enhances customer satisfaction and improves client retention.  Their commitment to improving quality standards, and their new technology partnerships, are all aimed towards offering the best in performance, reliability and flexibility for their customers.

3 Great Reasons to Buy Refurbished IT 2014 Tue, 31 Mar 2015 11:01:51 +0000 Back in December last year, we published an infographic and a blog post to showcase the results of our excellent refurbishment process and the extremely high reliability rates we experienced for the refurbished hardware we shipped in the 2012 financial year – you can view that post by clicking here.

As we are so proud of our refurbishment process, and due to all of the the positive feedback generated from that infographic we thought it might be worth repeating. From now on, we will be publishing our reliability rates on an annual basis – so, here goes with our results for 2014!

As you can see, in 2012 our refurbished IT shipments achieved a near unbeatable 99.3% reliability score (we shipped 11,600 refurbished items and had only 82 returned as faulty). We were pretty impressed with that, but knew we could do better. Now, in the 2014 financial year we shipped a total of 16,578 refurbished IT products out the door and had only 78 items returned as faulty. That equates to a massive 99.54% reliability rate, beating our 2012 figure hands down!

We think you’ll agree that our super low pricing, our über low return rates along with our 12 months warranty on all refurbished IT hardware makes purchasing your hardware from ICC an extremely attractive option. We have also recently been added to HP’s ‘Tier 1 multi-vendor parts supplier’ list, reinforcing the superb quality of our systems and refurbishment process.

Call now to find out how we can help you save money without sacrificing reliability in 2015!

Why Legacy IT Will Live On Wed, 18 Feb 2015 15:48:07 +0000 In this fast moving age of technology, we are used to continuously learning there’s something in the IT world that can work faster, better, or can provide us with more. Therefore it may be surprising to some that many of the biggest, most important and even vital organisations and services in the world run on what is known as legacy IT. A legacy system is an outdated IT system, programming language or application software that still provides essential business services. Legacy IT is used in the US Navy, the NHS’s Centralised Blood Supply System, HMRC’s VAT Collection Service and DWPs Pension Payment Service to name just a few. So why are such crucial services run on systems derived from those that were originally launched as far back as the 1960s? There are both challenges and benefits of using legacy IT which we’ve explored below.

What are the Challenges of Legacy IT?

Using systems that were developed so many years ago inevitably provides challenges. We’ve looked in to some of the biggest challenges legacy IT users have to overcome.

  1. Barriers to Progress

Change and innovation can be difficult when relying on legacy IT. Systems can impose constraints on processes, timings, and flexibility which can make it harder to bring about change within one business or even a whole industry.

  1. Cost

Data retrieval and sharing is costly because of the integration required with newer technology. Replacement parts and skills become scarcer, driving prices up. Businesses with legacy IT systems planned greater increases to their IT budgets than business without such systems.

  1. Skills Gaps

Young people are trained in the latest technology, programming languages and systems. This leaves legacy systems behind, with skilled programmers reducing in number. The skills gap is only getting bigger for those reliant on legacy IT.

  1. Disruption

Updates and repairs can be challenging, leading to disruption of vital services.

Why are Legacy Systems Still Used?

Despite the challenges that are linked with legacy IT, they are still widely used in 2015. There are many reasons why organisations are still reliant on legacy systems.

  1. Risk and Cost

Quite simply, the risk and cost associated with replacing them is too great. The possibility of data loss, downtime and disruption can be too large a challenge for some. Having a plan and solution in place to mitigate this risk may be too costly to implement.

  1. Insight

Legacy system data can provide granular insight that is vital to a company. This type of data can enable closer relationships with customers, keep companies efficient and facilitate new product development.

  1. Confidence

Once a system has proven to be stable and reliable, catering to the specific needs of a vital service, it is a difficult decision to change it.

Although there are a number of challenges to using legacy IT, it is set to live on well into the future. In an interesting case study, NASA proved that some systems need so much testing to ensure certification, they will already be considered legacy systems before they are even approved for use. Whilst this is the case, legacy IT will always live on by default.

Customer Satisfaction Fri, 06 Feb 2015 16:51:22 +0000 To celebrate Friday and the end of the week, here’s a nifty word cloud created at Wordle using all our customer reviews on Trustpilot.

I think you’ll agree that in 2014 the main reasons people used ICC as their IT solution partner was pretty obvious:

1. Great customer service
2. Low prices
3. Great technical knowledge
4. Fast parts delivery

We look forward to continuing that trend in 2015, and improving where we can too – Happy Friday from all at ICC!

The aim of Martin House Children’s Hospice is to provide family led care for children with life-limiting conditions. The hospice was formally opened by the Duchess of Kent in 1987, to become only the second children’s hospice in the UK. Since then, they have played a leading role in the development of the philosophy and delivery of children’s hospice care, both in the UK and across the rest of the world.

ICC is proud to be one of the first fifty members to support Martin House Business Club, a scheme established to generate sustainable income for the hospice. The Business Club aims to raise £25,000 each year which will contribute towards a care specialist, who will work with, and support, the children and their families during their stays at the hospice.

“We are excited to be able to partner with Martin House and aid in the support of more than 400 local children with life-limiting illnesses, and their families. The whole scheme fits in well with our mission for 2015 to support as many local causes as we can.”, said Leon Wheeler, M.D. at ICC.
