Taking place on May 21st and now in it’s 10th year, the Martin House Dragon Boat Race is a unique team-building event and family fun day that helps to support hundreds of children and young people across the region.

ICC is, again, proud to be fielding a crack team of Dragon Boat racers, ready to take on the competition, the elements and whatever else gets hurled at them throughout the day! We had so much fun last year, we just couldn’t stay away.

Each boat needs 8-10 people paddling and a drummer to keep the rhythm. The race takes part over one day and each team will take part in a minimum of 3 races before the fastest team goes through to the semi-final.  As well as the main action taking place on the lake there will be refreshments and a range of activities available throughout the day for the whole family.

We do encourage spectators to come and heckle us!

About Martin House

Martin House is a purpose built hospice for children, young people and their families. The aim of Martin House Children’s Hospice is to provide family led care for children with life-limiting conditions. The hospice was formally opened by the Duchess of Kent in 1987, to become only the second children’s hospice in the UK. Since then, they have played a leading role in the development of the philosophy and delivery of children’s hospice care, both in the UK and across the rest of the world.
